Celebration 40 days of my life

It was a nice sunny day in Wisconsin. On January 30, 2011 it was a special day because everybody was celebrating my 40 days after birth. On this special day, I was getting my first hair cut and first bath. Eating the yellow rice or "tumpeng" completed the celebration for good luck, health, and strength.

On this special day, I was going to wear my new outfits and my hair would be cut for the first time.

My mom and sister were making a "tumpeng" for the celebration.

I was so lucky that my grandma, Oma Mel, came to visit me and was able to celebrate this special event with my family and I.

The sambal goreng tempeh, sambal goreng kentang and abon were sprinkling on top of the yellow rice. Special thanks to my Auntie Vivien who gave it to us.

The Indonesian fried chicken was decorated at one of the corner. This is a special recipe from my beloved great grandma, Oma Lin. Special thanks to Oma Buna who cooked it. Yummy!

The shredded omelet or telur dadar was next.

My Cici Kathleen was helping my mom placing the food on the tumpeng. Thanks Cici, could't done it without you!

The perkedel kentang or potatoes fritters and hard boiled eggs were added.

It was kinda unusual to have sushi in the tumpeng, but we loved sushi and could add colors, so why not.

We felt something was missing....Ups, we almost forgot to put the sambal goreng kentang dan udang.

Another view from the top.

American flags were in place....reminder that I was born in America.

Drum roll....this is the final product. All the decorations were made from tomatoes, chillies, cucumbers, and carrots.

It was beautiful to see it from different angles.

The complete outfits and tumpeng. So excited and could't wait!

My lovely Cici was holding me in her arms. Love you Cici!

Thanking God for a beautiful family.

I was lucky that Oma Buna was able to come and help to take care of me.

Here I was...getting my first hair cut...be gentle guys!

Look at me posing with my grandma and Cici.

Several sweet memories with my grandma. Love you Oma!

Praying during the ceremony, thanking God for all of the blessings we received.

Dada and Cici had an honor to do the first cut.

Finally, time to eat....everybody dig in!

Horray, I finally got my first bath....mmmm I liked nice warm bath.

Me after bathing, enjoying the warm milk.

Love you Cici Kathleen! I can't wait to play snow with you.

PS. Special thanks to dada Ferdy who captured and took all of the gorgeous pictures.
